The census is a total enumeration of all persons living
within the United States occurring every ten years. The
2010 census is a paper survey that every US address will
receive by mail or in person in mid-March 2010. It is
not an internet or telephone survey.

Census data is the most reliable, comprehensive, and
best source of data on the American population.

Census data determines the apportionment of the
House of Representatives. Apportionment is the
process of dividing the 435 seats in the US House of
Representatives among the 50 states.

Census data determines how much funding for federal
programs such as those administered by the
Department of Transportation is distributed annually
to jurisdictions based on population counts.

Census data is an integral part of transportation
planning analysis activities, including general
descriptive analyses, demographic simulations, and
travel demand model forecasting.

short 10-question form

The US Census Bureau is conducting a Census Road Tour
across the nation where participants can learn
about the 2010 Census and the positive impact their
participation can have on their local community and the
